J.W. worked tirelessly as a writer and bartender in the New York City theater scene before relocating to Los Angeles, where he worked tirelessly as a storyboard supervisor for major Hollywood directors including Jon Favreau, Michael Bay, Marc Webb and Rob Marshall.

He has several screenplays in various stages of development. BIODYNAMIC — a drama about reconciliation, spirituality and drinking damn good wine has director Ben Younger attached (BOILER ROOM, BLEED FOR THIS) and is currently out to talent.

THE PIRATES OF FELLOWSHIP, MAINE is a Nicholl Semifinalist (top 30) and a Carol Mendelsohn Humanitas Award finalist. His original television pilot THE PRAYING INDIAN has been optioned by Dylan Sellers at Limelight (PALM SPRINGS) and is currently seeking attachments.

Originally from coastal New England, he is a graduate of Bennington College and has an MFA in screenwriting from the UCLA school of theater, film and television, in which he was the recipient of the prestigious David Koepp scholarship. He was a Cannes Storytelling Institute Fellow in conjunction with Canal+ (2020).
